Personal therapy online
Research has demonstrated that therapy online can be just as effective as meeting face-to-face. In some ways it’s even better; there’s no travel time and you can get the therapy you want no matter how far away the therapist is.

Just like if we were face to face, with therapy online, we will allow ourselves the time to create an excellent therapeutic relationship, choose an appropriate therapy style and ensure our focus is right to enable secure resolution of emotional, behavioural and psychological issues.

Online therapy app
We’ll use the online app VSEE for. VSEE has a reputation for being easy to use, secure and maintaining a reliable connection.
This link invites you to connect to me: https://vsee.com/s/5e6f71039b95c. You don’t need to pay for an account. Just download the software when it invites you to. It will put me in your contact list and it’s there, ready for you to use when you need it for each therapy online session.
Before our first meeting, please click the link above and follow the instructions to connect to me. When it’s time for our meeting, click the same link or use the VSee app to find me in your contacts. When you’re ready to talk to me, click on the video camera icon and it will call me, just like ringing the door bell at the clinic. I’ll be there to answer the door.
Phone consultations
We can also have conversations by phone. Please call me at our booked time, so it’s just like ringing the doorbell at the clinic:
- phone: 07717 410 910
Backup
It’s helpful to have both therapy online and phone options on standby, so that we’re not reliant on one technology.
Considerations for therapy online or over the phone consultations during the coronavirus pandemic

For therapy online or phone sessions, it’s important to consider a few points:
- Privacy – that you will not be overheard nor interrupted during your session;
- Connectivity – that your wifi/phone connection is reliable and fully charged.
- In the event that the connection is broken, please try to have another means of completing the session available, eg computer AND telephone;
- Comfort – please ensure that you have what you need in advance of calling me for your session, somewhere comfortable to sit where you feel at ease, with a drink if you would like one. If we need to meet across a distance for more than one session, it is often better to plan to be in the same venue for each meeting;
- Timing – please consider how you might prepare yourself for the session.
- When travelling to therapy, people often prepare mentally for the work we’ll be doing together. Please think how you might create that opportunity for yourself if we agree to meet at a distance; please also make sure you have the time you need for reflection and quiet after the session;
- Relationship – using technology instead of meeting face-to-face undoubtedly affects the way we communicate. It requires special attention to listening, reflecting, and being able to check things out with one-another when some of the visual clues are less apparent. If we need to schedule sessions at a distance for more than a ‘one-off’ session, let’s plan to review how it’s going as time unfolds. Please feel free to do this at any point;
- Focus – it’s sometimes helpful to agree the focus of the session together. On occasions, the work we might do face-to-face is less appropriate at a distance. Please let me know if you’d prefer to change the way in which we are working if we meet at a distance; I too, may recommend changes.
Mental health and wellbeing is important too

Mental health and wellbeing are just as important as physical health. Our work together has the potential to have life changing benefit for you. Being emotionally strong and healthy will help people through this difficult time and help us recover more quickly afterwards.
If anyone is suffering with anxiety, therapy will be hugely important to help them through and enable them to thrive.
We’ve had a lot of focus in the media recently about the importance of good mental health and wellbeing. The NHS’s Every Mind Matters campaign, the royal’s Heads Together initiative, and the Time to Change focus on mental health stigma have all opened our eyes to the way our country undervalues our mental health. If you know of anyone who’d like personalised support, then please invite them to get in touch with me.
Stay well, and I look forward to seeing or speaking with you soon.
Kindest wishes

Tania
